Technical Translations
This type of translation requires precision when trying to convey all
the details of an original text. A translator is not allowed to
introduce any changes into the text. Equipment manuals, specifications,
contracts, catalogues, etc. fall under this category. We make
translations of texts presented in ANY format.
Literary Translations
Some kinds of texts cannot be translated word for word. For instance,
trade marks, advertising booklets, slogans, presentations, PR texts, as
they often include puns, aphorisms and sayings. These texts target
certain audiences. Often, what is quite obvious to a foreigner, (TV
program titles, names of politicians and literary characters) are
absolutely unknown to the Russian audience. Normally, we provide a
number of translation versions (trade marks, advertising slogans, etc.)
from which the client can choose.
Express Translations
We do urgent translations. We also provide translation services during
weekends and on public holidays. We can translate current
correspondences with your foreign partners – normally, your letter will
be translated within one hour upon receipt via e-mail.
Interpreting
Our interpreters are experienced in negotiations, presentations,
seminars, etc. However, it is more expedient if you provide us with a
hard copy of the text, if highly specialized topics are to be discussed.
These materials are necessary in order for our interpreters to prepare
for the event.
All details, including the translator’s appearance and manners, are
important in the case of a high-level meeting. We do have the required
experience: we have previously arranged interpreters for top-level
personnel in the ministries and for major Russian companies.
Translations of web sites
If your company has foreign partners, you need to have a web site in a
foreign language, in Russian at least. We make translations which do
not alter the formatting details of the original site, including
interface elements and graphics. We also support sites, by promptly
translating additions and amendments to the site.
Localization
Specialized software is applied practically everywhere: from process
line control to geological data analysis. The majority of such programs
have not been “russified”. Words in Russian displayed on the monitor
increase user productivity and cuts down on the cost of training.
Localization ( “translation”) of such programs is relatively cheap and
its economic effect is quite tangible.
Editing, Literary Processing and Amendments of
Translations
Do you have a “raw” translation? We can edit it. The editing of texts in
English/German can be done by native speakers. A company profile must be
translated with due consideration to the specifics of the country for
which such a translation is intended. We can adapt (make a literary
translation of) a text for any audience.
We can also introduce changes to a previous translation made by
different translators or make additions.
Audio/Video
We translate texts recoded on audio/video cassettes and CDs.
Translations can be submitted in writing or can be superimposed on the
original text.
Text Formatting
If we receive a text for translation in MS Word or similar program,
translation shall be done “on the monitor”. The client will then receive
a translation in the same format as the original text (tables, columns,
headers, etc.). If we receive the text to be translated in a hard copy
or in PDF, we will have to format it. Often, this takes time
comparable to that required for translation.
Translation Memory
This technology registers recurrences in a text. A client who places a
translation order with GLAGOL for a text which contains a number of
recurring elements, will save a considerable amount on translation
costs.
Scanning
Should you need to translate diagrams, drawings, etc. which are only
available in hard copy, we can scan them and either, translate the
inscriptions within the scanned image or, create a separate file with
the translated inscriptions .
Notary Services
A translation done by us can either be notarized or sealed with our
company’s seal. Notarization is done within one day.
DTP
We can present a translation in any program used by your printing house
- PageMaker, FrameMaker, QuarkXPress, etc. You should have your layout
created at GLAGOL for three reasons:

unlike a maker-up, we have created the text ourselves and are thus quite
are familiar with all its peculiarities.
b) The layout of a foreign language text often teems with mistakes when
done by a maker-up.
c) Our layout charges are considerably lower than those of printing
houses. Furthermore, layout charges are the same for all texts,
regardless of language!
Polygraphy
If you place your order for translation, draft layout and printing with
GLAGOL, you will save on time as well as money. We have established a
close partnership with a printing house equipped with the most
up-to-date machinery. The printing house is located within a hundred
meters of us. We can arrange for high-quality, full-color printing of
catalogues, booklets, etc., as well as for economy, monochrome printing
of instructions and manuals.
Compact Discs
We can make CD-recordings (CD-ROM) of your equipment manuals, exhibition
and presentation materials. Our own equipment allows us to make up to
1,000 recorded copies. Should you require more copies, we can place an
order with a recording facility. We can also do CD-business cards,
compact discs of a regular business card size. These CDs contain
information about your company as well as product catalogues in several
languages. Such a business card costs slightly more than regular
business cards but, is more effective.
